Kinsey Family Farm

On Saturday, we visited The Kinsey Family Farm. It was overcast and a bit rainy but it turned out to be a lot of fun. We were the only ones on the hayride because the possibility of rain had scared everyone away. It was kind of nice, though. It felt like we were having our own personal tour of the farm. We rode down a bumpy little hill to the pond where the catfish were waiting for us. It started to rain on our way and for a few minutes we thought for sure we were going to get soaked. Luckily for us, it slacked off long enough for us to enjoy ourselves. Armed with 3 cups of fish food, we were all delighted to see the catfish scramble to the surface in a fight for food. They are very obviously well fed.

Next stop was at the apple cannons. Here you can use an apple cannon to shoot at targets. Basically, you stuff an apple down this long tube - "cannon" - and shoot. Tate and Ben gave it a try but Cora was a little afraid of the loud noise that it made so we checked out the pumpkins while the boys shot apples.

A few family photo ops and then we were off to look at more pumpkins. They have a great set up of haystacks, corn stalks, and pumpkins for plenty of good photo spots. Too bad my kids won't cooperate once a camera is in front of their faces.

We finished the morning off with a purchase of one big pumpkin, one bumpy pumpkin, 4 mini pumpkins, two bumpy mini gourds, and 2 other multi-colored mini pumpkins, a piece of burlap, and 2 bags of popcorn. (That actually sounds like more than it actually is...they are fairly small) It was a successful day! The best part is that we were home within five minutes of leaving the farm which is always a plus in my book.
